Sep. 18, 1953 - Mrs. Maclean's family say “We fear the worst”.: Fears that Mrs. Melinda Maclean and her three children have been kidnapped in a ruthless attempt to force the hand of her husband, the high Foreign Office official now believed to be behind the Iron Curtain were strenthened when the Swiss police established beyond doubt that a telegram sent to Mrs Dunbar, Mrs. Maclean's mother, at their flat in Geneva, and signed “Melinda” had been sent by someone else. Mrs. Maclean's brother-in-law, Mr. John Shears, who came from Paris to help Mrs. Dunbar, said that he and Mrs. Dunbar feared the worst.; Photo shows Mr. John Shears brother-in-law of Mrs. Maclean, seen at the door of Mrs. Dunbar's flat in Geneva. He is seen receiving meals which are brought to the flat.

Eleven arrests in Cairo - It has been announced in Cairo that eleven people, including two former Prime Ministers have been arrested as part of the Revolution's Council's purge of alleged “” traitors”. Those arrested include Ibraham Farag, former Wafdist Minister and Party Secretary. The ex-Premiers are Ibraham Abdel Hadi (52) who held office under the Saadist Regime and Mustafa El Nahas (77) year old leader of the dissolved Wafdist Party. It is expected that the arrested Ministers will be charged before the Revolutionary Court. Keystone Photo Shows: Ibrahim Farag leaves his car on arriving at the Military Police Headquarters after his arrest.
