Sep. 13, 1953 - Solti to America. General music director Georg Solti said goodbye this afternoon to Frankfurter Rhein Main airport for severe-weeks-long tour through the United States. A visa to the United States had been denied him several weeks ago, because he was said to have associated with a communist front organization in Munich, however this reason for impediment later proved to be invalid. Solti beamed before his departing flight as he showed the journalists his pass with the hard-earned visa.
