The sympathetic "extras" clapped as the soldier embraced his blonde bride; they cheerd as he kissed her, and groaned as he said " Goodnight and goodbye". Then the soldier Sergent Herbert Charlton 29, of Lower Hustings-street Leicester turned on his heel and marched up the gang-plank of the trooper Empire Halladale at Liverpool Docks. Hermes joined in with 14 year old Janet Abercombie the English and Welsh Diving Champion, making a forbidding 45 ft dive into Portsmouth Harbour from the top deck of H.M.S. Hermes. Irene Moffatt took a trip down to Smithfield market to show the porters what a good bird should look like! She is wearing the prize winning entry in the Garment section called "Fluffy Chick" a swimsuit, hat, slippers and goggles made entirely of turkey feathers. The outfit was made by Mrs. N. He is instructed by Brian Davis, grade 2nd kyu, under the direction of Mr. Tatsou Suzuki, grade 7th Dan (apparently the best in world), who examined Robbie two weeks ago for his 8th kyu grade.
