FLO4708607: Grand Master of the Hospital Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, or knight of Malta in his ordinary costume and a knight of the rank of Grand Cross of the Order of Malta. The Knights Hospitallers or the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, was established in 1118, by Frere Gerard or Pierre Gerard de Martigues (around 1040-1120, mistakenly called Gerard Tenque). Their original purpose was to treat sick pelerins, but the order evolved into a military order around 1140. The militia of Christ of Livonia or Livonian Order was founded in 1202 by Albert Buxhoeveden, Eveque of Riga or Eveque Prince of Livonia (present-day Latvia). Order is called chastete, poverty and obedience and war against the infideles of Livonia. The order became very rich and joined the Teutonic order in 1228, then separated in 1525, before disappearing shortly afterwards.
