Note the interesting mountainous feature inside the crater. The coordinates of the center of King Crater are 120.5 degrees east longitude and 5.5 degrees north latitude. The two “” fingers”” of the central highlands in King Crater point towards the north - northwest. While astronauts John W. Young, commander; and Charles M. Duke Jr., lunar module pilot; descended in the Apollo 16 Lunar Module (LM) “” Orion””” to explore the Descartes highlands landing site on the moon, astronaut Thomas K.
