The two furnace operators, David Norris and Daniel Murray at the Royal Mint, have got at the moment, a very exclusive job, because in two days time the halfcrown coin will no longer be legal tender and David and Daniel pour £2,000 worth of coins, each, into the furnace every hour. They both work an 8-hour day, so between them they get through £32,000 per day. Daivd Norris pouring £200 worth of halfcrowns into the furnace. December 1969

The competition organised by the Daily Telegraph Magazine in association with Grants of St. James's, has a top prize worth £1,000. Contestants purchased a two half bottle pack of wine and on the back was a simple written Wine Quiz with a tie breaker. There were 19 finalists, including one woman. The clothes and accessories were chosen from Marks and Spencer's St. Michael range for next spring. Modelling the uniform for the press, was 20 year old Miss Lydia V. Parry one of the British hostesses. December 1969

For whilst mums away Carlos gets the job of looking after the kids and they can be a handful. Carol plays with daddies false nose and shows her sister Grace how well she can balance. For she hopes to be a circus artist herself when she grows up. They arrived in Manchester to take part in the Belle Vue Circus. December 1969
