PIX4643335: Skylab Station - 06/1973 - Skylab Station seen from Skylab Module - 2 before returning to Earth. An overhead view of the Skylab 1 space station cluster in Earth orbit photographed from the Skylab 2 Command/Service Module during the final “” fly around”” inspection by the CSM. The space station is sharply contrasted against a black sky background. Note the deployed parasol solar shield which shades the Orbital Workshop where the micrometeoroid shield is missing. The one remaining OWS solar array system wing has been fully deployed successfully. The OWS solar panel on the opposite side is missing completely. 22 June 197 / Bridgeman Images

The Skylab space station photographed from the Skylab 3 Command/Service Module during station keeping maneuvers prior to docking. Aboard the command module were astronauts Alan Bean, Owen Garriott and Jack Lousma, who remained with the Skylab space station in Earth's orbit for 59 days. Note the one solar array system wing on the Orbital Workshop (OWS) which was successfully deployed during extravehicular activity (EVA) on the first manned Skylab flight. The parasol solar shield which was deployed by the Skylab 2 crew can be seen through the support struts of the Apollo Telescope Mount. Jul 28 1973 / Bridgeman Images

PIX4640957: Back to Earth of Samantha Cristoforetti - 06/2015 - Samantha Cristoforetti helped out of the Soyuz TMA-15M capsule -06/2015: Back to Earth of the Soyuz TMA-15M capsule on June 11, 2015. On board, astronauts Terry Virtz, Anton Shkaplerov, and Samantha Cristoforetti. All three remained in the International Space Station (ISS) for more than six months. The Italian Samantha Cristoforetti is to date the longest time in space, with a flight lasting 199 days and 16 hours. ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, NASA astronaut Terry Virts and Russian commander Anton Shkaplerov landed safely on 11 June 2015 in the Kazakh steppe after a three-hour ride in their Soyuz spacecraft. They left the International Space Station at 10:20 GMT at the end of their six-month stay on the research complex. Terry Virtz, Anton Shkaplerov, and Samantha Cristoforetti are returning after more than six months onboard the International Space Station where they served as members of the Expedition 42 and 43 crews. Samantha Cristoforetti stayed 199 days in space and so became the holder of the record for the longest single mission for a woman. / Bridgeman Images

PIX4637831: Sky horizon to horizon - Light pollution is visible on both horizons. The star Sirius is reflected in the sea. Higher, the constellations of Orion, and the Bull with the Pleiades. Near the zenith, a shooting star claws the sky not far from the round spot of Holmes comet right in Persee. Towards the other horizon, the double cluster of Persee, the Andromede Galaxy, the nebula North America (very low in light pollution) and finally the Lyre near the horizon. 16 November 2007, Combrit (Finistere). The light pollution is visible above both horizons. Sirius has just risen and reflects itself in the sea. Higher, are constellations of Orion, the Taurus with Pleiades. Near the zenith, a meteor scratches the sky near the round patch of Comet Holmes in the heart of Perseus. Down to the other horizon: the double Perseus Cluster, Great Andromeda galaxy, North America nebula (hard to spot in the light pollution) and constellation of Lyra near the horizon.
