The gods, celestial beings, kings, rishis, royalty and common folk have all assembled to witness the vindication of Sītā. In front of the assembly, Sītā says that she has never ever thought of anyone but Rāma and that the Earth goddess MādhavÄ« should receive her if that be true. A miracle then occurs in front of all; a beautiful, celestial throne appears, supported by nāgas. The Earth goddess welcomes Sītā on it, and they descend into the bowels of the earth. Sītā is declared virtuous and vindicated. Brahmā and the gods overhead witness the event.
