A kiss from his mother greeted Bosun's Mate, George Banks, 22 year old hero of the recent explosion and fire aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier Bennington, when he landed at Prestwick Airport yesterday for 20 days leave. George was badly burned when he stayed behind in the carrier's pump room to drain fuel onto protected tanks, saving the ship, in which 99 sailors died, and her 2,000 crew from even greater disaster.
