Louis VII began the 2nd Crusade on the advice of Saint Bernard de Clairvaux (San Bernardo di Chiaravalle) and despite the opposition of Abbé Suger, to whom he left the administration of the Kingdom during his absence and that of Queen Alienor of Aquitaine (also called Eleonore de Guyenne, 1122-1204). Designed and engraved by Ambroise Tardieu in 1825.
