ZUM4841595: May 05, 1953 - Rehearsal For The Coronation Procession: A rehearsal for the Coronation procession was held this morning, About 300 troops wears used to represent the units taking part. They left Buckingham Palace at 5 a.m., arriving at Westminster Abbey a little more than half-an hour later. The troops wore battle dress and no bands were used. The state coachand a few troops - to represent the immediate encourage - covered the rest of the route. ZUM4842197: May 05, 1953 - Hanomag builds air-port tractors for Netherlands:” Hanomag” succeeded as the first firm in the world to construct a tractor for air-ports making no jerks. Many tractors could not be used on air-ports as they all did not master this problem that great planes must be dragged without any jerks. The front-wheels of great planes are really excellent springs but they are very easily damaged by drawing and pressure. The Royal Dutch Air Lines (KLM) ordered these tractors with the” Hanomag”. The tractor has a power of 55HP and is working with a hydraulic voice-turbo clutch enabling the driving on without jerks. ZUM4841425: May 05, 1953 - Thirty-one Sicilian bandits sentenced Giuliano gang's six hundred years.: After a trial lasting nearly four months, the Central Court of Palermo, Sicily, recently delivered its verdict, which took eight days to reach in the case of 45 men accused of serious crimes while members of the gang of Salvatore Giuliano, the bandit who, after terrorizing Sicily for six years, was shot dead by the police in 1950. Thirty-one of the accused bandits were found guilty of complicity in 11 murders, 15 attempted murders, 14 kidnapping and a number of other serious crimes. They received sentences of imprisonment two of them penal servitude for life - which totalled 600 years. The other 14 were ac ~ uitted, though nine of them still have to serve long sentences for previous crimes.
