MPX5128148: A RAF search and rescue Westland Whirlwind helicopter from RAF Acklington searches for Michael Cochrane, 23, at Blyth Bay. Non-swimmer Mr Cochrane along with Mr and Mrs Robert Dobie of Denmark Street, Heaton, Newcastle had become trapped on a sand bank as the tide came in. MPX5128174: The Army and the RAF gave a helping hand to American Air Filter Ltd, Cramlington, to get equipment high on the roof of Drax Power Station, near Selby, Yorkshire. AAF had manufactured three large blow down mutes for the power station's superheater safety silencer valve, 250ft above the ground. But the 18 sections of the equipment, the largest weighing 3,920 lbs, could not be placed with conventional lifting equipment, so the RAF gave a hand with a Westland Puma helicopter.
