MPX5157474: North East Shipwrecks - The fishing trawler Kilsyth which went aground at the Panama Dip, Whitley Bay, when a tug line snapped as it was bound for a breaker's yard on Teesside. Four men, including owner 38 year old ship dismantler, Michael Nicholls, stayed and slept aboard the stranded vessel awaiting a suitable tide and weather for the Tyne tug Niparound to pull her clear. 19th January, 1977 (b/w photo) / Bridgeman Images
