ZUM4841131: May 05, 1953 - Large and small shells are used by German missionaries with the papuas on New-Guinea to replace organs. They are blowing chorales on them. They are also using a special sound and notes-system invented by them as there may only one sound be blown on one shell. The shell-chorus being similar to the trembon-chorus in its sound can, on the whole world, be found on two places orly: in New Guinea (the second largest island in the world in the North of Australia) and in the Middle-Frankonian place Neuendettelsau where there is a training-school for missionaries. At the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Neuendettelsau institution the shell-chorus gave a special performance for the present guests / Bridgeman Images
