MPX5072153: As part of Mexican Week in Bond Street, London, the famous Mexican Ambassadors of Mexican song" Maria De Lourdes, with her troupe of Mariachis, Jose Chavez and "Oroy Plata" were due to march up Bond Street playing and singing. Unfortunately they were not aware of the by-laws, apparently they should have had a musicians licence. That was not all - they were also told by the police that they should not be in fancy dress. The troupe in Bond Street walk past the police who said 'no singing or playing". November 1969 / Bridgeman Images
MPX5072210: Fashion 1946's: Girl on left wears a camel coat, it's chief fashion pointers being the stitched Byron neckline, waist-line gauging, and roll-pleated skirt. Her big pockets help to give that padded-hip effect so fashionable this season. Girl on right wears a camel coat with deep saddle-stitched Dolman sleeves, the pleated back being secured by a two-buttoning half-belt. / Bridgeman Images
MPX5072246: Fashion 1940's: The two-piece suit by "Brenner Sports" is unsurpassed. This year their two-piece creations are not the skirt and tailored jacket, but are a combination of dress and jacket. It is to be foreseen that in the 1948 Autumn wardrobes will be incomplete without one of these new costumes. This model is in Fuschia, blue and green checks. The shirtwaist dress had elbow sleeves - and the orginal skirt is sun-ray pleated from waist to knee to fall softly to the hem. The English woman will pay approximately £32.15. for it. Madame Paget Fuschia shades, which completes the charming outfit. / Bridgeman Images
MPX5074693: "Your tea, madame" says the Lake District constable as he opens up the cells to arouse a holiday maker who had nowhere else to sleep the night. Scenes like this were not uncommon at Kendal, where every holiday makes who could not find accommodation went to the police station looking for help. Those who said they would "sleep anywhere" were fitted up in a cell for the night. They had to leave early next morning, but received apologies of the police for accommodation which was not entirely up to "Grand Hotel" standards. April 1946 / Bridgeman Images
MPX5074790: Fashion 1960s. Today (25.6.62) the Wimbledon championships start. Which means a lot of tennis and a little fashion. Yesterday (24.6.62) was "getting to know you" day for the stars. Which meant a little tennis and a lot of fashion. Under the chestnut trees at London's Hurlingham Club, the women showed off their outfits at a reception staged by the International Lawn Tennis Association of Great Britain. So did one of the men. America's Gardnar Mulloy. Side by side in Fred Perry dresses are Florence de la Courtie, from France, and Silvana Lazzarino, from Italy. Silvana's dress is trimmed with ostrich feathers. For Florence, it's frills. June 1962 / Bridgeman Images
MPX5075090: Fashion 1960s. Looking lovely, western style. Is this the reason why so many young men went West? This outfit was worn by blonde model Jackie Glass at the U.S. leather show, in London yesterday (Tuesday 12-10-65). Cowboy styling at this preview of American leather fashions for 1966 included horse-fur trousers, rancher boots and statsons alongside exotic white leather Space-age trouser-suits and coats.
