MPX5099263: Accidents - Air: Hostess Jane lives as plane dives to disaster: An air hostess staggered into the arms of rescuers on Thursday (20-3-69) after walking out of the blazing wreckage of an airliner. She was the sole survivor of the plane's crew of four. The airliner, a Viscount belonging to British Midland Airways, Plunged into a runway at Manchester Airport, Lancashire, seconds after taking off on a routine training flight. One of the rescuers said that the hostess, Jane Timson, "walked towards us as we raced up the runway, and didn't appear badly hurt." March 1969 / Bridgeman Images

MPX5099420: Canadian Pacific immigrant ship Beaverbrae formerly the Hapag's Huascaran which was taken over by the German Navy during the second world war and used as a u-boat repair ship in Norway. Captured in 1945 and handed over to Canadian Government, the ship was sold to Canadian Pacific in 1947. Refitted and renamed Beaverbrae and used as an emigrant carrier on the St. John - Bremerhaven/Bremen route.
