Based on a golf trolley, the Harbilt 600 vehicle has a six miles-per-hour speed limit. At the wheel, here, is Pan-Am ground hostess Irene Haines.

Glamour: Pirelli Limited have produced yet another of their famous calendars for 1970. They will have printed 43,000 calendars which will be distributed to their tyre dealers and footwear agents. Today at the Europa Hotel they held a press conference to launch the new calendar and invited Piers Courage the racing driver to post with some of their model girls. Piers Courage with five of the models who appear in the Pirelli calendar who are left to right Anak of Singapore, Anne Hanson of London and Pegga St. Helen of St. Lucia and Jo Wade from Surrey, Jaleh Haddad from Persia. December 1969

But to pensioner Selena Greenwood he's worth every penny of the £300 she has spent on him over the last 2 1/2yrs. Bobby…you could call him an old English Sheepdog has spent the last 2 1/2 yrs living it up away from home ...with 5 star treatment at a boarding kennel because his mistress had no home for him after she came out of hospital. Now Bobby is being rehabilitated for soon he and his owner will be together again when she gets a home of her own. December 1969

Four Douglas World Cruisers, modified torpedo bombers, named after the cities of Seattle, Chicago, Boston and New Orleans took off from Lake Washington, Seattle on 6th April 1924 and headed West to fly around-the-world. Seattle was lost when it hit a mountain in Alaska. 

Pictured here is Boston with Lt Lowell H Smith the leader and crew when they arrived at Croydon on 17th July 1924; later it force-landed in the Atlantic, with the remaining two arriving back in Seattle on 28th September after their 27,534 mile flight over 28 countries.
