MPX5072422: Porter Wally Lawes of Euston Station London was left holding the baby, 1 year old Deidre, after her parents Mr and Mrs O Hara departed for Manchester on the train. Mr O'Hara had left his wife and daughter to get tickets, he was delayed so Mrs O'Hara went to look for him. As the train began to leave, the Porter found the baby alone and grabbed her and the luggage off the train. At the same time the parents jumped back on the train and left the station. They pulled the emergency cord and when the train stopped they walked back to Euston - luckily as the next stop was 177 miles away! MPX5072758: John Dankworth, master of jazz swung into Coventry yesterday for a lightning visit to the cathedral. The m usician, conductor and composer was finalising details of a special jazz concert in September to mark the cathedral's silver jubilee year. He has been asked to write an original composition to celebrate the anniversary of the cathedral. The 20-minute piece called "Reconciliation" will be performed by an ensemble of 84 musicians as the highlight to the evening of jazz. 26th June 1987 / Bridgeman Images
