MPX5125784: Disaster struck the tiny village of Longhope on the Orkney island of Hoy when eight men from the village lost their lives in a lifeboat disaster, going to help the Liberian cargo ship Irene which had run aground on the neighbouring island of of South Ronaldshay. The ship sent out an SOS and the lifeboat was launched into the mountainous seas of Pentland Firth. MPX5125907: The scene at Cramlington Aerodrome as the AD1 (ADI), (G-FAAX) the first non-rigid airship built in the UK since World War One, came out for its first flight. It's progress was keenly followed by members of Newcastle Aero Club and officials of Cramlington Aerodrome.
