Actress Diana Dors and her husband Dennis Hamilton Gittins and their friend James Frederick Markall a jeweller were found guilty of Larceny at Blackpool last night. The charge was that they entered the flat of Mr. Frank Rogers in Blackpool - drank Gin - Vermouth etc.. and helped themselves to spirits.. They claimed that the whole thing was carried out as a joke.. Dianna Dors was given an absolute discharge-and her husband and J.F.Markall were found £10.each. Jul 07, 1953 - Where they use Mattresses to hold back the Sea: An army of volunteers are working ceasingly, geeting down to the job of closing a gap in the shattered sea walls of the island of Schouwenm n Holland. They are making matterosses out plaited willow branches, which cover an area of 40 square yards, these are towed to the spot by a tug and then sunk by blocks of granite and then a wall must be built on top.Some of the volunteers are busy making the mattresses of plaited willow branches.

A British Vickers-Supermarine Swift, piloted by J.M.” Lucky Mike” Lithgow, Chief Test Pilot of the Supermarine Division of Vickers Armstrongs yesterday set up a new London to Paris record.From take-off to landing the time was 19 min. 18 secs; from London Airport control tower that at Le Bourget being 19 min 5 seconds. Speed for the outward journey being 669.3 m.p.h. average and he returned in 19 min 14.3 secs at an average of 664.3 m.p.h. Keystone Photo Shows: - J.M.” Lucky Mike” Lithgow after his record breaking London to Paris end back flights. Total for the return journey being 38 min 20 secs.
