Miss Dorothy Tutin, whose performance in Graham Greene's” The Living Room” made her the talk of the entertainment world, and Mr. Jack Hylton, the impresario, were honoured by the Variety Club as the” Actress of the Year” and the” Showman of the Year” respectively at a special testimonial luncheon held at the Savoy Hotel today. Miss Tutin was presented by Dame Sybil Thorndike with a scroll on which are recorded extracts from reviews on her performance in “The Living Room” by London critics. Each extract credits the newspaper in which it appeared and is signed by its author-critic. The choice of Miss Tutin is that of the London critics themselves, as is that Mr. Jack Hylton, to whom an inscribed scroll was presented by Sir Malcolm Sargent. The men attending the special course are practicing snow wa ~ fare high on the icy 4,000 feet peaks in winds which can reach more than 70 miles an hour. They are spending nights on the mountains in snow holes in the ground and in tents, while learning mountain navigation.. During the day they are taught such things as step cutting and glissading (sliding down icy slopes) before going to Scotland the men had a toughening-up comes at the Commando School at Bickleigh near Plymouth.
