The flotilla took first place for the number of whales caught winning the Blue Riband of the Ant-Arctic. 3,092 whales were killed and 28,750 tons of oil obtained. ZUM4939036: Aug 01, 1954 - East German Refugees Arrive As Guests of English Scouts: One Hundred and twenty East Germany boys from refugee camps in west Germany, arrived in London today to spend three weeks as guests of scouts in London and the Home Counties. They will spend part of their stay in the homes of their Scout hosts and part of it in camp with their hosts' Troops in various parts of the Country. The German boys, whose ages range from 14-17, arrived at Victoria, and at Imperial Scout Headquarters they were met by their hosts (Except Kentish Scouts who met them at Dover), and taken to their homes or to Scout Camps.
