MPX5156404: Sir Alec Douglas Home came a by-election cropper on Tuesday 29th October 1963. Sir Alec, Prime Minister and the candidate for Kinross and West Perthshire, was about to speak at Dunning Village. Farm owner Sir Alec climbed a two step ladder to a hay wagon "rostrum". Crash!
