MPX5075683: World War II Home Front. Youth group run their own cottage. A picturesque century old cottage at Hammersmith has been taken over by the Cadby Hall Youth Group. Girls under 18 starting work continue to receive approved education, in their employers time, without loss of pay. In the cottage, housecraft, decorating, dressmaking, cookery, etc, is done by the girls, and at a creche nearby they get to know how to manage babies. Guest days at the cottage make them capable hostesses. L.c. c. teachers are helping in this interesting social and educational experiment. It is still in the formulative stage, but already shows good results, by extending the young peoples range of interests and encouraging them to become useful and responsible citizens.
