Valerie went to Canada four years ago from her home in Bournemouth, with her mother, father, and young brother. Her fare was ~ 99, and she earned every penny of it herself, baby sitting, and working a newspaper round, plus enough pocket money for her three-month. Here was determination. She brought with her one small suitcase and an airline handbag carrying only two changes of clothes for her stay. Her father, head store-keeper for Toronto firm, will send a monthly allowance.
