Sep. 09, 1953 -” Virgins Crown” Honor Revived At A Funeral: Theme diagonal costume of carrying a virgin's crown was carried out at a funeral at Abbott's Ann, near Andover, Hants, today for the first time in 32 years.It is the only place in England where the ceremony is still observed in England where the ceremony is still observed. Virginia's crown is awarded on the death of an un-married person of unblemished character who as born, baptized and confirmed in the parish, and was a communicant of the church there. the crown, made of hazel wood and parchment, is carried at the head of the coffin by two young Virginia of the parish. It is then placed on the front of th church for three weeks. If by tghe ned of that tome no one has challenged of disproved the dead person's right to the honor the crown is hung in the church until it decays. The funeral at which it was arranged to confer the honorary today was that of 72-year-old Miss Florence Jane Wisewell, of Little Ann

The flags of Britain, U.S.A., Italy, France, Greece and Turkey, were unfurled by sailors from each nation, while a Royal Marine band played the different national anthems
