Originally, the Museum of Public Works was to be created for the 1937 Universal Exhibition on Chaillot Hill. In fact, its construction did not begin until January 1937. In 1939, the first rooms of the museum and the conference room were inaugurated. The museum will suffer delays due to the Second World War. This anthem to concrete has been home since 1959 to the Economic and Social Council, established by the 1958 Constitution promulgated by General de Gaulle.
