Tue 03, 1953 - German scientist expelled from China: Professor Dr. Franz Huebotter who owned for 23 years a private hospital in Tsingtau and who was highly esteemed as an outstanding scientist in China was suddenly arrested in August 1951 and put in jail together with a German Bishop and 20 friars as they all were charged with” imperialists and reactionaries”. For 16 months he was in prisons of the Communist Chinese Government of Mao Tse Tung. Now he was suddenly released and expelled but he had to leave behind his hospital, his scientific works and all his property. From 1914 to 1930 Professor Huebotter was university teacher for oriental medicine at Berlin University and became world-famous by his medical works. The refugee from China found preliminary shelter in the house of his son in Wiesbaden. There the 71-years-old man wants to recover from all the exertion and fatigues.
