March 3, 1970 - Tue 03, 1970 - Explosions and Fire Destroy Greenwich Village House - Several People Are Dead. Today at noon three explosions and a raging fire destroyed a £275,000 townhouse at 18 West 11 Street in New York's Greenwich Village. Experts say the accident originated from a bomb factory, which could have destroyed the entire block.
