MPX5090934: The Good Samaritans stand on parade in a hospital ward. They are some of the volunteers who stopped a small hospital from shutting down. They came to the rescue of matron Miss Queenie Graham after only two nurses turned up for duty. Most of her staff of 31 were victims of the flu epidemic which has hit Merseyside. But willing hands were ready when the call went out for helpers. Nearly 50 offers flooded the switchboard at the 50 bed Sir Alfred Jones Memorial Hospital, at Garston, Liverpool. MPX5091006: Comedian Roy Hudd who is currently starring in "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Wimbledon Theatre, has got 10 tiny 'sleeping beauties' of his own to greet the New Year. Boxer dog Lily is the proud mother, and this is her first litter which she tends with great care. MPX5092741: Scotland Yard today started a massive hunt for Mrs. Muriel McKay wife of Mr. Alex McKay a director of the News of the World. She vanished from her home in Arthur Road, Wimbledon (Monday night). There were signs of a forced entry. Today police combed Wimbledon Common and were led by Chief Supt. William Smith who was in charge of the case, and Det. Insp. Johnny Mynors. On left is Chief Supt. William Smith and behind him Det. Insp. Johnny Mynors outside the house tonight.
