MPX5137717: It was like this... Better than a text book... pupils at Honley Junior School used a very special teaching aid for their history project. They picked the brains of two women from the area to help with a national curriculum project on life in Britain from the 1930s. Mrs Norah Haigh (right) and Mrs Freda Matthews went to the school to answer questions on day-to-day life during their early years. Mrs Haigh is a former pupil at the school and the detectives of Class, 3H have even found her name in the old school log book. Also for the project, the class have had a traditional 1930s wash-day and invented their own street. As a thank you to their guests, the youngsters sang, The Sunny Side Of The Street., 17th October 1991 (b/w photo) / Bridgeman Images
