ZUM4948262: Jan. 01, 1955 - Bea Captains to Co ~ ~ and German Airlines: As an initial step in resuscitating the German Airline, Deutache Lufthansa, A group of BEA pilots will start a flying trains 8 Programmes at Hamburg to qualify them in flying the convair 340 airliners with which the D.L.H. is now equipped. With Capt. J. Munro, of the BEA train flight, in charge, their training will continue until April, Capt. Munro will be assisted by two other BEA training Flight pilots Capt. P. Mckeown and Captain S.J. Brown. When the D.L.H. scheduled services start in April, the BEA captains, wearing Lufthansa uniform, will be in command with Germans as their co-pilots. The British captains will fly for the D.L.H. for 18 months, by which time the German pilots will have become qualified to take owner-command. Princess Alexandra daughter of the Duchess of Kent was thrown from her horse while out with the Pytchley Hunt yesterday. She was riding” Smokey” across a boggy field when he stopped suddenly and the Princess was thrown over his head. She was shaken and covered in mud but continued the hunt.
