ZUM4938767: Jul 07, 1954 - George Dawson and his wife attend Chinese party.: Mr. George Dawson - whose financial interests already include scrap, fish, sausages, and Persian mining last night walked into a reception in London to eleven Chinese trade delegates who are visiting Britain. His name was not on the official list of invitations, and he would not say why he was there. When Mr and Mrs. Dawson arrived officials f the British Council for the Promotion of Trade, who organised the party, were surprised. “I would like to see Britain doing business with the Chinese. If we don't, America will” Mr. Dawson said. After supper he buttonholed Mr. Wong Tsiao, a member of the delegation. But almost immediately a director of the council led the latter gently away to another group / Bridgeman Images
