Biography
Kazimir Severinovich Malevich (b.1878 d.1935) was a Russian avant-garde artist. His works and writing influenced the development of abstract art. Malevich created abstract geometric patterns in a way he called Suprematism. This explored the idea that colour, line and shape should be valued over subject matter or narrative. His most well known work Black Square (1915) explores this concept.
