Biography
Jacopo Robusti Tintoretto (b.1518 d.1594) known simply as Tintoretto, was a Venetian Mannerist painter. He was inspired by Titian’s use of colour and the dynamic figures of Michelangelo. Tintoretto’s biggest work was his cycle of paintings for the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. His work is characterised by his use of quick brushstrokes and vibrant colours in dramatic compositions.
