Tiziano Vecellio (b. 1488 d. 1576), better known in English as Titian, was a significant Italian painter of the Renaissance, widely considered to be the most prominent member of the 16th century Venetian school. Throughout his life, he was often referred to as da Cadore, 'from Cadore', inspired by his native region. He was a versatile artist; skilled at capturing portraits, landscapes and mythological subjects. He was had a profound influence on future generations of Western artists.
