Biography
Henri Fantin-Latour was a French painter born in Grenoble in 1836. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was influenced by the works of Gustave Courbet and Edouard Manet. Fantin-Latour is best known for his still-life paintings, which often featured flowers, fruit, and other objects arranged in a simple, elegant manner. He also painted portraits and landscapes, but it was his still-life works that earned him the most recognition. His paintings were admired for their technical skill and attention to detail, as well as their quiet beauty. Fantin-Latour exhibited his work at the Paris Salon and was a member of the Société des Artistes Français. He died in Buré, France in 1904, leaving behind a legacy of exquisite still-life paintings that continue to inspire and captivate art lovers today.
