Biography
Peter Paul Rubens (b. 1577 d. 1640) was a Flemish artist and diplomat, he is widely regarded as the most influential artist of the Flemish Baroque tradition. His charged compositions reference erudite aspects of classical and Christian history. He was influenced by artists such as Caravaggio, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. He is best known for the bold and expressive aspect of his paintings.
