b. 1933
Liam Hanley was born in London but spent most of his formative years in Wales. He studied briefly at the Central School of Art but is largely self taught.

He has held several one man exhibitions at the Royal Society of Arts, the Mermaid Theatre, and the Thackeray Gallery, London, to name but a few. He has also held mixed exhibitions. His works have been purchased by the Graves Art Gallery in Sheffield, local authorities and hospitals.

Of his work Hanley states: “If my painting had to fit into a category it would be landscape, though landscape from the pictorial point of view is not what I seek. I am concerned with the ‘land’ and what man does to it, especially on a few fields close to Royston in Hertfordshire.”
