Annael (Anelia Pavlova), b.1956, is a Bulgarian-born Australian artist working in oil painting, printmaking and illustration. Her unique oil paintings – which in the past have been successfully exhibited numerous times in commercial galleries throughout Australia – encompass both the figurative and the abstract, and are created using Classical Music from composers across different periods in a synthesis of idea, music, and visual art. Annael's award-winning monoprints are created using an original printmaking technique she invented in the 1980's that brings the bright, lucid colours of oil painting to the world of the graphic medium. Her artworks are part of a number of highly-regarded public and private collections around the world, including the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, Russia; the National Art Gallery in Sofia, Bulgaria; Tama Art University Museum, Tokyo, Japan; and Sony Corporation, USA. Numerous books and wine labels have been illustrated by her as well, some of which have received prestigious awards, among them the 1998 Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) Award for corporate illustration.
