Sally Maltby was born in England in 1943. She did her initial art training at Farnham School of Art and the Central School, London. She became a highly successful textile designer but in the last ten years has returned to painting. Her watercolours are inspired by nineteenth century architecture, a love of flowers and an interest in garden history. Her many conservatories and ornamental gardens were inspired and painted from her extensive travels throughout Europe, most especially France and Italy, in order to capture the spirit of the established formal gardens.
