Biography
Jose Clemente Orozco was a Mexican painter and muralist born in 1883. He is considered one of the most important artists of the Mexican muralism movement. Orozco's work often depicted social and political issues, and he was known for his use of strong colors and dramatic imagery. He studied at the Academy of San Carlos in Mexico City and later traveled to the United States, where he painted murals at Dartmouth College and the New School for Social Research in New York City. Orozco's most famous works include the murals at the Hospicio CabaƱas in Guadalajara, Mexico, which depict the history of Mexico and the struggles of its people. He died in 1949 at the age of 66, leaving behind a legacy of powerful and thought-provoking art.
