Fra Bartolomeo, born Baccio della Porta, was an Italian Renaissance painter and Dominican friar. He was born in 1472 in Florence, Italy, and began his artistic career as an apprentice to Cosimo Rosselli. He later became a member of the Dominican order and took the name Fra Bartolomeo. Bartolomeo's style was heavily influenced by the works of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, and he is known for his use of color and light. He was also known for his religious paintings, which often depicted scenes from the Bible. In 1500, Bartolomeo traveled to Rome, where he studied the works of Raphael and other Renaissance artists. He returned to Florence in 1504 and became a leading figure in the city's artistic community. Bartolomeo's most famous works include the altarpiece "The Last Judgment" and the fresco "The Vision of St. Bernard." He died in 1517 at the age of 45.
