Biography
Nicolas Poussin (b. 1594 d. 1665) was a leading painter during the prominence of the classical French Baroque style. He did, however, spend the majority of his career based in Rome. His works were predominantly on religious and mythological subjects painted for a small group of Italian and French collectors. He predominantly created easel paintings for private patrons.
