Biography
'Jane Tattersfield grew up in London where she went on to study for a degree in illustration. She began her career with commissions from publishers, magazines, graphic design and greeting card companies which led to specialising in childrens' books and television work. Colour and pattern has always been her driving force and she created a rich, intricately decorative style using inks and gouache, with influences from India, South America, textile, folk and ancient art. To create the ultimate vibrancy of colour she went on to paint in oils, producing larger and more abstract pieces inspired by myths, legends and the cycle of nature. Exhibiting her paintings in various galleries led Jane to set up 'Tattersfield Designs' in 2014 producing her own range of greetings cards, prints, fabrics and cushions, which now sell around the world. These more recent images are taken from Jane's detailed paintings of animals, birds and flowers, interwoven with patterns and natural forms. Her pieces are also widely used for various products such as jigsaw puzzles, book covers, and in particular premium needlepoint canvases sold in the USA.' www.janetattersfield.co.uk/tattersfielddesigns
