Biography
Born 24 October 1903. Charlotte Perriand studied design at the Ecole de l'Union Centrale des Arts D351coratifs, Paris, France, from 1920 to 1925. From 1927 to 1937 she directed her own interior design firm in Paris. Charlotte Perriand was an associate in charge of furniture and fittings at the studio of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in Paris, France, from 1927 to 1937. Perriand's furniture designs were used by the Wohnbedarf AG. to make furniture for the 'Typ M' model apartment at the Werkbundsiedlung Neub374hl (Zurich, Switzerland) in 1931. She worked with Jean Prouv351, Pierre Jeanneret and Georges Blanchon in Paris from 1937 to 1940. Perriand established an office for prefabricated building researches in Paris in 1940 and worked as an independent designer in Tokyo from 1941 to 1942 and in Indochina from 1943 to 1946.
