Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida (b. 1863 d. 1923) was a renowned Spanish Valencian painter, recognised for his portraits, landscapes and large works of social and historical themes. He was also known for his incredible succession of Spanish and international exhibitions, commissions for portraits, showers of honours and nearly constant travel.
