- Nicola Bealing was born in 1963. She studied at the Hertfordshire College of Art in 1983 and from 1984-87 at Byam Shaw. There is a deep engagement with images of myth in Nicola’s work. She has a terrific ability to handle paint, conveying form in flowing line with the lightest and boldest of brush strokes, conjuring bodies out of almost nothing. In this way, with humour and its dark side, Nicola Bealing has taken contemporary figurative painting and distinctively made it her own.
