Biography
C.L. Doughty was an American artist born in 1913 and passed away in 1985. He was known for his abstract expressionist paintings that were heavily influenced by the works of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. Doughty studied at the Art Students League in New York City and later taught at the University of California, Berkeley. He was a member of the San Francisco Art Institute and exhibited his works in various galleries and museums across the United States. Doughty's paintings were characterized by their bold use of color and gestural brushstrokes, which conveyed a sense of energy and movement. He was also known for his use of unconventional materials, such as sand and gravel, in his paintings. Despite his relatively short career, Doughty's works continue to be celebrated for their innovative approach to abstract expressionism.
