Biography
b. 1958
Isabel Hutchison was born in Hertfordshire in 1958 where she spent the most formative years of her early life, she is a self-taught artist for whom painting and drawing played an integral part of this period of her life. After completing her education, initially she sought employment within the Interior Design industry which proved a useful outlet for her creative abilities. Having been widowed at the early age of 24 in 1982, she decided to move her career into the direction of something offering more time for her love of painting. Working within Interior Design for some eight years she was able to make her sideways move into the field of mural painting through her contacts in this industry, she then subsequently set up a studio in her own home, whereupon her career as an easel painter began to develop.
Isabel's first one-woman show was held in Tower Bridge in 1996 on the centenary of the bridge, this comprised a collection of paintings of all the road bridges of London, where then purchased by several major institutions. Since then she has exhibited in a variety of mixed shows and has also had her work published in a number of books. Most of Isabel's landscape works feature scenes of London where she lives, but she also expresses herself through still life, portrait painting and etching. She is currently studying for her BA in Photography and Multimedia at Westminster University.
